On Friday, April 5th, 2024, Vada Harris went home to be with our Lord after a long illness. She was born April 23, 1929, to Fay O and Mary (Anderson) Long.
With her first husband, Robert Ward, who she lost in a tragic accident, she had two children Rita (Ward) White and Bobby Ward, who preceded her in death as a teenager and she is surely with right now!
With her second husband, Theodore Harris, she had son Ted (Irene) Harris, and stepchildren Donnie (Sandy) Harris and Constance Harris (deceased). Together they farmed and ran a successful trucking service until Ted’s health declined.
In addition to her children, she is survived by a large extended family including grandchildren Kim (Bobby) Jeffers, Brenda (Greg) Hunt, Brian (Ginger) Harris, TJ (Taryn) Stover, Amber Harrison, Devin (Jess) Hendricks and Shayne Brady, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to those mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law Violet (Howard) Hart and Betty (Gibb) Cassel.
Though her family will miss her presence, we can be assured that she is free from pain and full of joy as she joins her family in heaven. She was so looking forward to seeing so many people! How happy she must be!
We would like to thank Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Hospice of North Central Ohio for their care and support during her last days. Vada was also a long-time member of the First Congregational Church of Sullivan, and the family would like to thank them for their cards, prayers and support.
Private graveside services will be held at Sullivan Cemetery and the family would like to thank Eastman Funeral Home for their assistance with the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or the First Congregational Church of Sullivan.
