Tony C. Marley, 86, of Wellington died on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. Born on August 6, 1934 in Bellevue, he was the son of the late Rose and James Marley. He was a Wellington resident for most of his life.
Tony proudly served in the US Navy for two years. He owned and operated Tony’s Sunoco Station in Wellington for 27 years. Tony owned a number of businesses, including the first video rental store in Lorain County. Tony served on the Wellington Fire District for 34 years where he became the assistant chief for 3 years and fire chief for 12 years. He was also a state fire marshal inspector. He was a member and past president of Kiwanis and was a member of the Wellington Eagles and St. Patrick Catholic Parish, where he enjoyed calling for bingo. Tony was passionate about football and worked as an official for local High School football for 21 years. He also enjoyed traveling with his family to Florida through the winter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda (nee Matcham) Marley; children, James (Kim) Marley of Texas and Anne (Larry) Hovatter, of Grafton; granddaughters, Lisa (Hatem) Chourabi and Nina (Jason) Morin; great granddaughters, Lily, Lena and Hayla; siblings, Carmel (Lee) Grissinger and Charles Marley.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 25, from 4-6pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington. A mass will be held on Monday, April 26, beginning at 11 am with Father Trask officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery. Those attending will be asked to practice social distancing and masks will be required.
