Thomas Frank Gardner

Thomas “Tom” F. Gardner, 70, of Olena, died on January 23, 2022, at home.  The last of 11 children, he was born on July 6, 1951, in New London, to the late Frank and Dorothy (Bailey) Gardner. For those who knew Tom, though, and his sense of humor, he claimed every day to be his birthday.   

Throughout his life he was consistently an upbeat jokester, you could count on Tom for a laugh or smile.  He loved his beer and his dogs and enjoyed camping with his wife and friends at the Huron River Valley Campground.  Tom didn’t fish much but you’d think he did by the way he liked to tell “fish stories” and tall tales.  He was a member of the Ashland Eagles.   

A hard worker, Tom had driven truck for many years, and was an owner/operator at one time.  He also owned TJ Tires in New London and most recently shared his love for woodworking, by creating many lifelong handcrafted pieces for family and friends.         

Survivors include his loving wife of over 17 years, Denise (Brunke) Gardner; sons, Jamey (Dawn) Gardner, Cory (Jenni) Gardner and Kenneth Low; grandchildren, Katie (Michael) Green, Cory (Heather) Young, Cody (Ammanda) Young and Jaina and Camryn Gardner; and great grandchildren, Khloe Young and Colt Hales.  He is also survived by his four-legged companion, “Diamond”.      

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his many siblings; nephew, Chad Sanders; and mother in-law, Cherrill Grignon.     

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, beginning at 3 p.m. until the time of the 6 p.m. service at Eastman Funeral Home, New London.  Tom will be cremated, and a burial will be held at a later date with a meal following the burial.  Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
