Robert “Bob” Jacobs  

January 4, 1935 – September 28, 2021 

Robert “Bob” Jacobs, (86), residing in Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully on (Tuesday, September 28, 2021) at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger is assisting the family with arrangements.   

Bob was born on January 4, 1935 in Norwalk, OH to the late George and Cornelia (Greenfelder) Jacobs.   

He proudly served his country as a 2nd Class Airman of the United States Air Force. Bob was a dedicated diesel mechanic for Interstate, Jaress and Ed Schmidt Truck store, retiring in 2006. He was a member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church in Toledo and formerly a member of St. Paul's in Norwalk.  Bob was happiest spending his time on the water, most especially Lake Erie and the Caribbean.  Thanks to his dad, George who instilled the joys of fishing at a very young age he continued that love the rest of his life and passed it on to all of his family with many years spent on “the boat”.  Many weekends spent acting as crew chief for his son and later granddaughter at the dragstrip brought him much pride and joy. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Jacobs, whom he married on June 29, 1957; 2 daughters, Debra Brazeau of Swanton, OH and Tina Sawchek of Cascade, CO; Son, Thomas (Susan) Jacobs of Toledo, OH; 6 grandchildren, Sarah (Andre Burrell) Brazeau, Brandon (Chelsea) Brazeau, Dustin (Bonnie) Jacobs, Edward Sawchek, Samuel (Eryn Sebert) Sawchek and Kendallyn (Jacob Butler) Jacobs; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Roselene Dick and brother-in -law, William (Patricia) Camp.   

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Wilbur, Herbert and John Jacobs; sister, Mary Ann Ruggles and son-in-law, Lawrence Brazeau.   

A funeral Mass will held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857 on Saturday, October 2, 2021 beginning at 12 p.m. (noon). Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Norwalk.
