Robert Ervin Mitchell

Robert Ervin Mitchell, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021. He was born on December 11, 1934 in Tiro, Ohio. He is the son of the late Aaron and Dora (Leeteman) Mitchell. He was a 1953 graduate of Shiloh High School. On July 13, 1953 he married, Patricia Louise Sutter.   

Robert was a very well respected and a hardworking man. He wouldn’t ask you to do anything he wouldn’t do first. Robert worked for the Richland County Highway Department and retired following a 30-year career. He was a Bloomingrove Township trustee for 16 years.     

He bought and farmed a 50 acre farm that he was very proud of. He loved to fish and play cards. He was always willing to help fix anything for anyone and enjoyed tinkering in his barn and using his backhoe. Robert was a member of the Shenandoah Christian Church.   

Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Judy Lynn (Rick) Rhodes of Mansfield, Linda Sue Tabor of Shelby, Patti Arlene (Drexel) Thomas of Mansfield, Jeffrey Ervin (Kim) Mitchell of Ganges; son-in-law, Max Garcia; 12 grandchildren, Jamie, Denise, Lamarr, Aaron, Tina, Tammy, Tony, Tiffany, Merry, Annie, Christina, Amanda; 29 great-grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Mason, Abby, Ethan, Brandi, Emma, Adalynn, Clayton, Sherrie, Shellie, Steve, Scott, Lexy, Alex, Adam, Araianna, Cynthia, Candice, Charlie, Carter, Catrina, Sara, Riley, Calum, Izzy, Avi, Jordyn, Noah; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Hadleigh, Ri-Khi, Ayvianna, Layliana; a brother Herbert Swind of Shenandoah; special niece, Chrissy Kanz and her son, Austin. 

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Louise Garcia; 2 grandsons, Jesse Paul Tabor and Wylie Franklin Tabor; a son-in-law, Dan Edgle Tabor; a daughter-in-law, Cindy (Warner) Mitchell; brothers, Richard Swind, James Mitchell and Aaron Eugene Mitchell; sister, Delores Marie Behrendsen.   

His family will receive friends at the Shenandoah Christian Church, 5642 State Route 13 N, Shiloh, Ohio 44878 on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at the Shenandoah Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting eastmanfuneralhome.com
