Richard “Dick” Sweeting
June 26, 1930 – October 17, 2021
Richard “Dick” Sweeting, 91, of North Fairfield, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Norwalk Memorial Home.
Dick was born on June 26, 1930 in Willard, OH to the late Henry and Dorothy (Wilcox) Sweeting.
Dick proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was later employed as a machine repairman for New Departure for 15 years and the Plum Brook NASA Station as a reactor mechanic for 12 years. Dick was a skilled handyman who restored antique tractors and maintained the family farm. He enjoyed living a quiet, simple life.
Dick is survived by his 3 sons, Jeff (Jennie) Sweeting of Shelby, Mark Sweeting of North Fairfield and Steve (Susan) Sweeting of North Fairfield; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Joy (Montgomery) Sweeting; daughter, Lori Carpenter; granddaughter, Holly Douglas and brothers, Keith and Jim Sweeting.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11 am. Reverend Solomon Richardson will be presiding. Burial will follow at North Fairfield Cemetery.
