Ralph N. “Norm” “Pete” Kettel, 86, of Norwalk died peacefully on November 21, 2020 at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk. He was born August 28, 1934 in Norwalk to the late Norman B. and Clara (Dennison) Kettel.
Ralph grew up in Norwalk and had lived in Berlin Heights, Huron and Milan, Ohio, and for a time in Bakersfield, California. He worked at CIT in Norwalk, Zone Expediting in Vermilion, and was the owner of the former Kettel’s Corner Market in Bellevue. He was a member of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church in Norwalk.
Ralph enjoyed fishing, traveling, watching Cleveland and Ohio State sports teams, playing cards, and playing the stock market. He was a wonderful cook; his family especially loved his homemade noodles. He cherished time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Jerry Kettel of San Antonio, Texas, Jill (John) Lieber of Norwalk and Keith (Stacy) Kettel of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew Lieber, Brandon (Jessica) Lieber, Cory (Shelby) Lieber and Kathryn and Kelsey Kettel.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Judith A. (DenOtter) Kettel in 2007, and sister, Janet Anderson.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 beginning at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk with Fr. Francis Mariadas officiating. Attendees are reminded to bring and wear a mask, and practice all social distancing and mass gathering guidelines.
