Peter J. Strohminger, 33, of St. Petersburg, FL, died on October 1, 2021, following a hard-fought battle with addiction. He was born on September 27, 1988, in Detroit, MI to Dennis and Rebecca (Grosswiler) Strohminger. Pete grew up in Norwalk and moved to Sarasota, FL in 2001. He graduated from Sarasota High School with honors before attending the State College of Florida in Bradenton.
Pete was a kind, compassionate and helpful person with an admirable work ethic. He especially enjoyed driving a delivery truck at Farm Fresh. He loved fishing and anything that had to do with the Gulf of Mexico and was a wonderful cook. He enjoyed playing baseball and had played on a St. John’s softball team and various other softball teams. All of which, won championships. He was also a talented musician who played in the Sarasota Sailors band and bass guitar in several recovery bands.
Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Rebecca (Grosswiler) Strohminger; grandmother, Freda Strohminger; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pete was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Strohminger; grandparents, Bernard and Thalia Grosswiler; uncles, David Grosswiler and James Hamilton; and cousin, Shannon Hamilton.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio from 4 p.m. until the time of the 6 p.m. service. A burial will take place at a later date in Windsor Cemetery, Mansfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army Adult Recovery and Rehabilitation Center, 5005 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44103 or any other recovery center of the donor’s choosing.
