Patricia Hyde Obituary

Patricia L. Hyde (aka “Honeybee”), 87, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community.  She was born on April 4, 1933 in Elyria to the late Edward and Nadine (McCoy) Gehl.  Patricia grew up in Amherst and was married there to her loving husband Kenneth. They relocated to Florida and Alabama for 17 years before returning to Amherst and retiring in Norwalk, Ohio.

“Honeybee” loved big band music and was a beautiful ballroom dancer.  She was an accomplished gardener and loved the outdoors, especially bird watching.  When inside she was happiest baking, sewing, and playing “Scrabble” with her family.  She also had a keen interest in antique history.

Pat worked in office administration for Dr. F. Yuzon and the Amherst Utilities Department.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Kenneth Hyde; their children, Lisa Johnson (Peter) of Sterling, AK and Green Valley, AZ and Susan (Donald) Sterling of Hadley, PA; sister, Jacqueline Grendow of Amherst; step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jacob and Matthew Sterling.

In keeping with Patricia’s wishes, she will be cremated.  Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, Norwalk is honored to assist the family with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Amherst Manor, 175 N.
