Norma Jean Schindler, 88, of Avon Lake, died on Monday March 9, 2020 at O’Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville. Born on August 29, 1931 in Wellington, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice (nee Moffit) Barbor.
Norma spent most of her life in Wellington and attended the Oberlin Business College. She worked for Ciba Corning in Oberlin and LMRE prior to that. She was a member of the Women’s League, Bridge Club and Wellington Boosters. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, and taking trips to Bob Evans with friends and family. Norma also enjoyed to travel and has been all across the country and through much of Europe.
She is survived by her husband Helmut Schindler; children, Robert (Sandy) Walker, of Wellington, Lisa Mitchell, of Elyria, Jeff (Susan) Walker, of Wellington, Mark (Sabine) Walker, of Amherst; grandchildren, Michelle White, Melissa Walker, Brooke Bradstock, Robin Polan, Jennifer Mitchell, Jeff and Monica Walker, Pia and Nico Walker and 9 great grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her daughter Diane Walker, great granddaughter, Madeline, son-in-law, Donald Mitchell, and siblings William, Clarence, and Ralph Barbor.
A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Wellington, OH 44090. The family would like to thank the staff of Cross Roads Hospice for the care they gave Norma.
