Mildred Roerig, 86, of Rochester, died Sunday, October 25, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. Born on March 1, 1934 in Soldier PA, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Mary (nee Mehok) Elkovich.
Mildred moved with her family to Ohio in 1945. She enjoyed ice skating and tending to her garden, and helping clean up the family business. Mildred enjoyed keeping close to home and cherished time with her family. granddaughter Sara said her life could be summed up in three words, sweet, simple, and kind.
Survivors include her twin sons, Ronald (Mari) Roerig, and John Roerig, both of New London; granddaughter Sara (Gregory) Schramm, of Wellington; step-grandson Sean McNamara, of Willard; great-grandchildren Carly and Cash Schramm, and step-greatgrandchildren Elisabeth and Cael McNamara; siblings Mary Ann Moir, Ronnie (Eugene) Kusznir, and Steve Elkovich. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband William Frank Roerig in 2001, and brother-in-law Joe Moir.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, October 29, from 9-11 a.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington. A graveside service will take place on Thursday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Rochester Center Cemetery.
