Mary Jane “Janie” (Snodgrass) Nerad was born on January 30, 1936 and passed on September 22, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. She married Rudolph (Rudy) Nerad and together they raised their family of 3 girls, Lucinda Luann (Scott) Nipper, Philomena Marie (Matt) Faren, Barbara Jean (Greg) Haas and a son, Bruce Joseph Nerad. They resided at their home on West Road in Penfield for 63 years.
Janie was an avid bowler in her earlier years but proud to receive her GED and to become an STNA. She worked over 20 years at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin and retired to enjoy her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite things to do were to go shopping and dining with her best friend, Fran Hevener. She also enjoyed watching western movies, soap operas, Judge Judy and Storage Wars.
Janie was born in Deep Valley, West Virginia to Earl and Mary (Michael) Snodgrass of Rymer, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her beloved and only son, Bruce at age 16 in 1977; parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and loving husband of 57 years, Rudy Nerad.
She is survived by daughters, Lucinda, Marie and Barb; grandchildren, William, Steve and Bruce Smith, Amanda Springer, Brandi Simpson, Tyler Scarbrough and Shane McRoberts along with 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Scoobie. Maxine Floyd, of Wellington, her eldest sister survives her along with her youngest brother, Sam (Rosemary) Snodgrass of Rymer, West Virginia.
There will not be any viewing or funeral upon her request. The family will have a private graveside burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janie’s memory may be made to the APL of Elyria or Hospice of the Western Reserve in Lorain County.
