Martin Anthony Bores

Martin A. “Marty” Bores, 53, of Berlin Heights, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2021, after a 2 year courageous battle with Leukemia, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. He was born on July 30, 1967, in Norwalk to Willard F. and Gwen M. (Goostree) Bores. Marty attended Norwalk High School and EHOVE.

He was the owner and operator of Bores Trucking for 25 years. Marty made many, many, friends throughout his life and career and was said to have never met a stranger. While working for BFI, he received an award for his courage and bravery in saving the lives of a family when their garage caught on fire and he and his co-worker alerted the family and got them out of the home safely. Marty was a one-of-a-kind guy who loved his dogs and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He faced cancer with the same vigor and fight that he applied to the rest of his life, at one point telling those dear to him, “I want to really live until the day that I have to die.”

Marty’s survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Laura (Young) Bores; sons, Bobby (Christina) Bores and Ryan (Brittany) Bores all of Berlin Heights; daughter, Rachel (Jerme) Bores of Texas; grandchildren, Dixie, Chevy, Skylar, Cheyenne, Olivia, Maddie, Braydon, and one on the way; parents, Willard F. (Gwen M.) Bores of Norwalk; brothers, Mark (Janine) Bores of Norwalk, Melvin (Marla) Bores of Monroeville, Mitchell (Tina) Bores of Hohenwald, TN; sister, Melanie (David) Davidson of Norwalk; adopted brother, Keith (Amber) Bores of Wakeman as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.      

Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents, John “Doug” (Eunice) Goostree and Irene Bores; mother in-law, Joyce Young (who considered him a son); brother, Marvin and sister, Marie.

Family, Friends, “Dudes” and “Cats” are invited to a visitation at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio on Saturday, July 17, 2021, from 1 p.m. until the time of the 4 p.m. service with Chaplin David Detwiler officiating the service. Visitors to the visitation and service on Saturday are encouraged to dress casually (jeans and Harley Davidson apparel).
