Margarete (Schad) Mangold, 87, of Norwalk, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Stein Hospice Care Center.
Margarete was born on March 11, 1935, in Backnang, Germany to the late Hermann and Luise (Diller) Schad.
Margarete held various part time jobs working at Fisher Body, AAA, Deputy Register, RF McCrillis, Cunningham Book Bindery, and the Hen House. She was a very active member at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church where she participated in the prayer chain, Bible studies, and cooking for various needs. Margarete was a devout Christian who was dedicated to her faith and family. She took great pride in being a homemaker and caring for her loved ones. In her spare time, Margarete enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening. She loved her flowers and was known for her green thumb.
Margarete is survived by her 4 children, Ernest (Pam) Mangold of Norwalk, Barb (John, Jr.) Knapp of Shreve, Carol (Kenn) Petersen of Huron, and Rose (Richard) Hauler of Norwalk; 6 grandchildren, Sheila, AJ (Cassie), Jeremy, Heidi, Amy (Tom), and Rick (Angie); 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Gudrun Boettinger of Germany, and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany.
In addition to her parents, Margarete was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ulrich “Uli” Mangold who passed away on April 15, 2022, and 3 sisters, Luise, Emma, and Trudel.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11:30 am at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
