Lillie Mae Cook, 88, of Norwalk, Ohio passed away on July 6, 2020. Born in Centre, Alabama, May 2, 1932 to the late Florence Reese Harkness and Reuben Jasper Harkness.
After graduating, she moved to Washington D.C. to study nursing, later moving to Norwalk and starting a family. She began her career at Norwalk Memorial Home, where she worked for 17 years as a certified nursing assistant. Following her retirement; she continued to use her nursing skills as an avid volunteer for over 10 years at Fisher Titus Hospital. She loved helping people and enjoyed traveling with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Cook; children, Walter B. Wade of Mansfield, Ohio; Evelyn J. Wade of Norwalk, Ohio; Jacquelyn Wade-Hatchett of Altavista, Virginia; John Rodney Cook (Brandi) of Norwalk, Ohio; sisters and brother, Murline Harkness Viar, Dixie Jackson, Helen Price, Mary Ruth Huey, Lotatise Starr, Thomas Harkness; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Master Sergeant James Harkness, Odell Harkness; sisters, Jo Ann Chambers and Freddie Harkness.
The family will receive friends at Norwalk First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 10 o'clock AM until the start of the service at 11 o'clock AM, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
