Leta King, 92, of New London, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the Laurels of New London with family by her side. She was born May 22, 1930, in Rockwood, TN to the late Mildred (Sherlin) and Giles McCain. Leta grew up in Spring City, TN, moved to Elyria from 1952-1979 when she moved to New London and has resided ever since. She loved old country music, gardening, was an avid reader, loved poetry and even had her own poem published, but spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren is what she cherished most.
Leta is survived by her 2 children, John L. Goddard and wife Susan of New London and Kathy Baker of Elyria; 7 grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Murray of Cleveland, Erica Mullins of Elyria, Melanie Hokes of Ashland, Janet Renee Healy of Jefferson, GA, Amanda Marie Sharp of Bethlehem, GA, and Samatha Downs of Wakeman ; 18 great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. King; 4 sons, Larry Holloway, David Lynn Holloway, Darryl Goddard, Craig Lee King; 2 daughters, Janet Goddard Smith and Barbara Joyce Sugaski; grandson, John Fisher; and 3 brothers, Harold Kelly, Bill McCain and Donald McCain.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 10 AM until the time of the service at 12 noon at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London with burial at Grove Street Cemetery, New London. Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to the Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Ave., Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
