Joseph Sherman Obituary

Joseph W. Sherman, 91, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 15, 1932, in Bellevue, OH to the late Joseph and Irene (Seibel) Sherman. Joseph graduated from Bellevue High School in 1950. He met his late wife Joann (White) Sherman in high school and married September 13, 1953. They devoted 67 years to each other.

Joseph had a love for farming, starting with his father in Lyme Township. In 1958 he and his wife moved to Norwalk from Bellevue to continue growing the family and farm. He retired farming in 1993 at age 62.

Joseph was a faithful member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was active in Soil and Water, Ohio Farm Bureau, and Junior Fair. He cherished family, celebrating many holidays at his home. He loved to travel with his wife Joann, especially in the motor home. He visited almost every state in the U.S., including Alaska, as well as Mexico and Canada. During these trips, they made numerous lasting friendships. He and Joann had also been to many places in Europe, China, and more.

Joseph is survived by his four sons, Jeff, Jere, Jim (Jeanne), and John (Kelly) Sherman; his grandchildren, Chris (Maria) Sherman, Kyle (Lauren) Sherman, Tana (Brian) Hayes, Tyler (Rachel) Sherman, Tara Sherman, Jeremy (Larissa) Sherman, Jennifer (Keith) Welch, John (fiancée Emma) Sherman, Matthew (Jenny) Sherman, Alex Sherman and Kelsey (John) Mlinarcik; and his 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Joann (White) Sherman.
