John S. Savel, Sr.

John S. Savel, Sr., 78, of Wellington, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at home surrounded by family after a courageous  battle with cancer. The son of the late Pearl (nee Dorogi) and Michael Savel, he was born on October 21, 1945 in Uniontown, PA. John graduated from North Union High School, where he excelled in track and field. He went on to serve our country and joined the Army Reserves.

John retired from Ridge Tool in Elyria after 29 years and was a member of Church of Christ in Norwalk.

Camping, fishing, and hunting were some of his favorite pastimes. He thoroughly enjoyed his annual trips to Florida during the winter months with his wife, Pat. He also loved watching Westerns and was an avid football fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia (nee Christman) Savel; children, Diana Bizorik, Stephanie Savel, and John (Melissa) Savel; sister, Barb Christman; 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Michael Edward Savel, Jr.; daughter, Mary Freeman and great grandson, Gabriel Shafer.
