Helen Mae Eby, 91, of Norwalk, Ohio and formerly of Monroeville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 at the Inn at Ashland Woods in Ashland, Ohio. She was born on May 21, 1929 in Havana, Ohio to the late Adolph and Cora (Smith) Stein and graduated from Monroeville High School and Fremont Beauty School.
Helen was a beautician and taught cosmetology at EHOVE for 22 years. She volunteered at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroeville and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norwalk.
Survivors include her committed partner of over 23 years, Dareyl Smith of Norwalk, Ohio; her children, Carolyn (Mike) Metzger of Shelby, Ohio and Jeff (Janet) Eby of Avon, Ohio; grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Ruby, Scott (Stephanie) Metzger, Beth (Rob) Kusnerik and Steven (Jenny) Eby; great grandchildren, Jenna, Mason, Drew, Hannah, Emily and Jeremiah; Dareyl’s children, Steve (Janna) Smith, Ron (Betsy) Smith, Jeanne (Ken) Leber and Scott (Tonda) Smith, and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eby in 1988 and siblings, Vernita (Olin) Schneider, Edgar (Harriet) Stein and Doris (George) Gatzke.
Due to COVID-19 concerns there will be no public visitation, however a public graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ann Marshall officiating. Guests are reminded to wear a mask and practice all current social distancing and mass gathering guidelines.
