Gary Mack Obituary

Gary E. Mack, 73, of Bakersfield, CA passed away February 22, 2021.

Gary was born April 14, 1947 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Eugene F. and Elaine (O’Brien) Mack and was an avid traveler who had residences in Albion, ID, Jacksonville, NC and Bakersfield, CA.

Gary graduated from St. Paul High School in 1965 where he lettered in both football and track. He was also Co-Captain of the football team in his senior year. In addition, he played football for both JCU and the Marines. Gary graduated from John Carroll University in 1970 and the college ROTC program as a 2nd Lieutenant, and soon after joined the United States Marine Corps where he was promoted to Captain, and served as a Nuclear Safety Officer at Camp Lejeune, NC.

Gary enjoyed many occupations throughout his life including Insurance, Real Estate and Investments, Restaurant Manager, Sheriff, Foreman, Long Haul Truck Trainer and others.

Gary was warm and welcoming with everyone he would meet, and established many lifelong friendships wherever his travels took him. He was also an advocate for the unborn and underprivileged, and was involved in various activities through his church. Above all, he remained steadfast in his faith, no matter the situation.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda Maxwell-Mack of Bakersfield, CA. His children, Schon Patrick Mack, Traci (Mack) Olsen, Cassandra Mack-Wright and Sean Tobin, Brian Mack and Reannon Kelsey, Tammy, Jessie and Tara Mack and grandchildren Faith, Melody, Benjamin, McKenzie, Sophia, Danny, Dierdre, Schon O’Brien Mack, Avalyne, Bella, Tristen, and Kira. And two great grandchildren Skylar and Eloise.

Gary is also survived by his siblings, Linda Mack, Maureen Blake, Kevin MacMahon, and Sharon (Mack) Palomo and Robert Palomo, and his former wife and long-time friend Rolinda (Wright) Mack, and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, son Daniel Eugene Mack, brother-in-law Richard Blake, and nephew Ryan Rollins.

A Memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Mountain time, Friday, March 5th, 2021 at Grace Community Church, 100 N. Meridian Road in Rupert, Idaho with Livestream for remote friends and family via https://graceid.org/live.
