Devon G. Taft 27, born March 3, 1993, lost his battle with addiction on May 25, 2020. Devon hated living with this disease and battled it hard the last 4 years. He told his mother how he woke up thinking about it and the urge consumed him every second of those years. Devon has now found his peace away from this disease. Devon was a gentle soul, who was slow to anger, never disrespecting his family or friends even at his worse. Yes, Devon was an addict, but he was also more to many, he was a son, a brother, an Uncle, a nephew, Cousin and a friend. It is time for the world to stop hating the addict and hate the disease.
Devon graduated in 2012 from New London HS and Ehove Vocational school majoring in auto mechanics.
Devon loved motorcycles and four wheeling. He enjoyed vacationing with family in Dale Hollow Lake, Tennessee, where as a family they went boating, jet skiing and tubing. The family’s greatest memories were shared there.
Devon is survived by his mother Lisa Griffin, her husband Robin Griffin of Norwalk, his brother David (D.J.) Taft of Norwalk, Ohio, his sister Elaysha (Lacey) Szabo, and her husband Dennis Szabo Jr. of Willard, Ohio, and his grandmother, Ida Taft of Collins, Ohio. Devon had two nephews: Grayson Taft, and Wyatt Szabo.
Due to the Coronavirus, there will be no services. Family will have a private gathering of remembrance and a small grave side service. If you have pictures or stories of Devon, please share them on his Facebook page, so we can all share our love and friendship. Arrangements are entrusted to Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio 44857. Online condolences may also be expressed by going to www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com.
