David Lewis Stevenson, 82, of Wellington, died Monday, March 20, 2023 at UH Elyria Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Hamond, Indiana on May 13, 1940, David was the son of the late Howard J. and Frances M. (nee Lewis) Stevenson. He attended DePauw University, then Indiana University, graduating with a Law Degree in 1965. During school, David was a member of the ROTC and served five years in the Air Force.
A talented attorney, he passed the bar exam in both Illinois and Indiana. David worked for Prudential, for 30 years starting his career in Chicago and then moving to New Jersey. For several years he tended his family farm in Indiana. He was an avid golfer and bowler, playing on several leagues over the years. David was passionate about staying up to date with current events, especially politics, events on the world stage, and the stock market, and as a proud citizen he bore a weight and concern for the world. In his pursuit to stay up to date he loved reading the New York Times and Wall Steet Journal and other papers. David always had a dream to fly and had taken flying lesson. At heart, David was a proud father and he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events.
David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Carolyn (nee Stockdale) Stevenson; children, Amy (Roger) Sasack, of New London and Andrew (Dee) Stevenson, of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Wyatt, Nolan, Finley, Willa, and Hollis.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 2 from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. Memorial Service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, with Tina Siroki officiating.
