David G. Ringholz, 74, residing in Norwalk, passed away at home with his loving wife by his side, early Tuesday morning, September 13, 2022, after living a life with cancer for 18 years.
David was born on May 17, 1948, in Norwalk, OH, to the late Gladys (Gabb) and Carl Ringholz.
David graduated from St. Paul High School in 1966, attended Ashland College, and received his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Toledo in 1971. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1972 – 1977. David’s time in the Navy took him to many places including Rhode Island, California, Florida, and Texas. David was a dedicated civil engineer for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Albany, GA. In his early years, David held summer jobs at Lodermeier’s Linwood Garage and Roth Construction Company. The experience David gained during these years gave him the skills to be an excellent handyman. He had the ability to handle any project that was needed at home. David enjoyed automobiles, motorcycles, power tools, and electronics.
David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie (Schaafsma) Ringholz, whom he married on June 27, 1970; sister, Carol Shaffoe of Milan; brother, Robert (Karen) Ringholz of Spring, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Meagrow, and brothers-in-law, Thomas Shaffoe and Brian Meagrow.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
