Betty Jean Becker

Betty Jean Becker, age 82, of Norwalk, passed away November 7, 2023, at Norwalk Memorial Home.

Betty, the eldest of five children, was born to Delbert and Evelyn Wolcott on January 12, 1941.  The family moved to Clarksfield Ohio in the late 1940s.  Betty graduated from New London High School in 1958.  Later that year she met Rhene Becker at the Columbia Ball Room where he claims it was ‘love at first sight.’  The couple married in June of 1959.  During the early years of their marriage, Betty traveled with Rhene who worked for the Buckeye Pipeline.  Daughter Tracy was born in 1962 followed by Kristie in 1964.  The family moved several times throughout the years eventually settling in Clarksfield shortly after Rhene’s retirement in 1990, and they enjoyed spending winters in Florida until 2015.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kristie Ligon, and brother Charles Wolcott.

Betty is survived by her husband Rhene and daughter Tracy Silvert of Fairborn, Ohio.  Also surviving are brothers Robert (Dzintra) Wolcott and Larry (Mary) Wolcott, and sister Pam (Bob) Johnson; son-in-law Jerry Ligon; sister-in-law Sue Wolcott; special aunts Hazel Wilson and Dorothy Bischoff; grandchildren Ryan and Colby Silvert and Jessica and Hannah Ligon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty  was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be missed by those who love her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 11 am until the time of the service at 1 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857 with burial following at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery, Clarksfield.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 9501 US-250, Unit 2 Milan, Ohio,  44846.  Online condolences to the family may be expressed by visiting: www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com.
