Richard “Butch” Conaway, 81, of North Fairfield, died on Saturday morning, August 31, 2019 at Gaymont Nursing Center. He was born on June 15, 1938 in Seville, Ohio to the late Russel Warner and May Rossella (Gordon) Conaway. Butch was a North Fairfield High School graduate.
He was a hard worker, retiring after nearly 30 years at the former General Motors Plant in Mansfield and from the US Post Office. Butch enjoyed farming and clearing brush in his later years. He loved his children, traveling, and camping, and cheering for the Cleveland Browns.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Joan (Noftz) Conaway; children, Debbie (Ken) King, Pam (John) Walker, Rick (Judi) Conaway and Bob (Joan) Conaway; grandchildren, Jenny Prelipp, Allison, Anelise, Elizabeth, David, Grace and Eric; sisters, Norma Rang and Barbara Warwick and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert and Russel Conaway.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 4 pm – 7 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, where a service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 beginning at 11 am.
