Richard Walter Obituary

Richard “Pinky” Walter, 89, of Wellington, died Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. Born on August 14, 1929 in Lodi, he was the son of the late John and Clara (nee Scheafer) Walter. 

 

Pinky served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He worked as a truck driver for Hoff and Co. Trucking and later for Tri-State. Pinky also worked at Forest City and as a sentry at the Lorain County JVS. Pinky was a life member of the VFW and the AmVets. He loved to be out on the road and drove until he was 80 years old. he also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, and vacations with his brother and sister-in-law. 

 

Survivors include his daughter Judy Wojciechowski, of Nova; grandson Grayson; siblings Arthur (Donna) Walter, of Ashland, and Carol Dassel, of Pratville AL; and sister-in-law Shirley Walter, of Ashland. Pinky was preceded in death by his wife Gladys, siblings Gilbert, Carl, and Ann McKean. 

 

Friends and family will gather at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 10 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. followed by full military honors. Burial will take place at a later date at Huntington Cemetery.
