Lucille I. Lucal, age 95, of New London, formally of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 25, 1923 in Cuyahoga Falls to the late Owen and Laura (Whittaker) Ross.
Lucille was a graduate Cuyahoga Falls High School, Kent State University, and later Tufts University (Massachusetts) where she received her master’s degree. She was a Latin teacher at Norwalk High School, influencing many throughout her nearly 20 year career there. After retirement, Lucille and her husband, Curtiss, adored taking care of their two grandchildren. They enjoyed spending time at Lakeside and going to the park. Lucille was an excellent cook, but what was cherished most were her sandbox picnics.
Survivors include her son, Brian (Kimberly) Lucal; daughter, Linda Lucal; sister, Doris Jean Hoffman; grandchildren, Chad (Teresa) Lucal and Kristin Lucal; great-grandchildren, Rory, Reese, Reagan and Gunnar.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Curtiss W. Lucal; sister, Rowena Ross and brother, Dr. Walter E. Ross.
Services are being privately held with a burial planned in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is assisting the family with Lucille’s arrangements.
