Carter Stephen Smith

Carter Stephen Smith, 23, of Sullivan, lost his long hard fought battle with addiction on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Born on June 7, 1996, in Kissimmee FL, he was the son of Beverly Stephens and the late Burl Smith Jr. Carter attended both Wellington Schools and Black River. 

Carter enjoyed basketball and rooting on Cleveland Cavs as well as the Browns. He will be remembered as a kind hearted friend, loyal, sympathetic, and very likable. Carter loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his siblings and cousins. 

Survivors include his mother, Beverly Stephens; siblings Curtis, Cassandra, Burl, and Dillon Smith; grandparents Mike and Sandie Adams and Sharon Ferrell; aunts Michelle Orsik, Julie Stafford, and Debbie Smith; uncles, Jeff, Chris and Matt Adams; and cousins, Victoria and Abigail Trout, Jenell Martin, Andrew Smith, and Tyler and Morgan Orsik. Carter was preceded in death by his father Burl Smith Jr; grandfather Burl Smith Sr, and great grandparents James and Dorothy Hunt. 

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, July 21, from 2-4 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington, where a service will begin at 4 p.m
