Barbara A. Kolanda

Norwalk, Ohio – Barbara A. Kolanda (nee Kane) was born on August 5, 1941 and passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 at her home in Norwalk, Ohio.  Barbara was born in Curtice, Ohio and grew up in Lorain, Ohio.  She attended school in Amherst, Ohio and was a member of the first graduating class of Marion Steele High School in 1959.  She then graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Practical Nursing and was employed as a nurse for 40 years.  She was employed by Providence Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio and New London Health Care in New London, Ohio. Barbara was an avid genealogist and enjoyed scrap booking, crocheting, and gardening.  Her greatest joy was her family, and she created a scrap book for each of her children and her grandchildren.   Barbara is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Jason) Kennedy of Norwalk, Ohio, and Deborah Kolanda of Olena, Ohio and by her son Robert Kolanda of Perkins, Ohio.   She is also survived by her siblings, Suzanne Birich of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and her brother, Duane Kane of Aiken, South Carolina.  Barbara has 7 surviving grandchildren, including; Jessica, Logan, Tiffany, Morgan, Justin, Noah, and Victoria and 5 great-grandchildren including; Devin, Brayden, Micah, Annabelle, and Dawson.  She was predeceased by her parents, Melva Kane (nee Chambers), and her father, Henry Kane.  Barbara is also predeceased by her daughter, Robin Francis Kolanda who passed in 1971, and by her brother Dale Kane, who passed in 2006.  At Barbara’s request, there will be no visitation and a private family graveside service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, all donations may be made in Barbara’s honor, to the Huron County Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Ave., Norwalk, Ohio 44857.  Online condolences may be expressed by going to www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com.
