Jason M. Hamm

 Norwalk, Ohio – Jason M. Hamm, 37, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 in his home. He was born April 9, 1980, in Sandusky, Ohio, and came to Norwalk, Ohio, in 1999 from Sandusky, Ohio.

Jason was the owner of JH Heating and Cooling, and was a former employee of Gilbert Electric, and Hartland Mechanical. He was an avid hunter and being outdoors, enjoyed four wheeling, and had an interest in flying. Jason was a member of the N.R.A.

He is survived by his wife, Candi (Newcomer) Hamm, whom he has been with since 1998, by his children, Brittany Hamm, and Kaylee Hamm, by his parents, Edward and Janice ((Rhonehouse) Hamm of Vermilion, Ohio, by his brother, Joshua C. (Melissa Miller) Hamm of Vermilion, Ohio, by his niece, Elizabeth Hamm, by his nephew, Anthony Hamm, by his great nephews, Lincoln, and Logan, and by his brother in law, Chad Newcomer of Sandusky, Ohio.

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the North Pointe Baptist Church, 3702 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio. Rev. Wally Gilbert, and Rev. Cody Goff will officiate.

Shirley Jeanne Missler

Norwalk, Ohio – Shirley Jeanne Missler, 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017, in Fisher Titus Medical Center surrounded by family after a sudden illness. She was born March 5, 1939 in Norwalk, Ohio, and was a lifelong area resident.

Shirley enjoyed flower gardening, and especially enjoyed family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Ralph Missler, Sr., whom she married November 30, 1963 in Norwalk, Ohio, by her daughters, Janet (David) Lichoff and Jennifer Harris of Norwalk, Ohio, by her sons, Ralph (Rebecca) Missler of Collins, Ohio, Mark Missler, Gregory Missler, and Daniel (Angie Cherry) Missler, all of Norwalk, Ohio.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dean Smith, Jr., Jessica Smith, Hannah (Joseph) Sutton, Garrick (Kathleen) Smith, Kelly (Yuji) Kosuga, Ashley Burgos, Ashley, Anthony, and Alexander Harris, Ralph III and Charles Missler, and Carter and Carli Missler, and by her great grandchildren, Isaiah Kelsey, Aiden Khan, Otto Sutton, Estella Smith, Lucas Smith, Kearstin, Trenton, and Colton Hartman, by her brothers, Thomas (Shirley) Houghtlen, Michael (Kathy) Houghtlen, Ronald (Annette) Houghtlen, Sr., and Daniel Houghtlen, by her sisters in law, Marilyn Houghtlen, and Barbara Nutter, by her brother in law, Robert Suda, and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, William Houghtlen in 1993, by her mother, Clara (Sennhenn) Houghtlen in 2006, by her infant son, Gary Allen Missler in 1970, by her brothers, James Houghtlen, Larry Houghtlen, and Robert Houghtlen, by her nephew. Ronald Houghtlen, Jr., by her nieces, Tammy Uithoven, and Nicki Murr, and several brothers in law, and sisters in law.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Burton A. Lewis

Norwalk, Ohio – Burton A. Lewis, 65, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, June 17, 2017 in his sister’s home in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born January 6, 1952 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Philip A. and Eleanor E. (Ryerson) Lewis, and was a lifelong area resident.

Burton was a 1970 graduate of South Central High School, and was a member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Golden Rule Lodge #562 F. & A.M. of Willard, Ohio, and Local #228. Burton was a 24 year employee of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad in Bellevue, Ohio, and was a part-time farmer.

He is survived by his daughter, Garnet Grace (Alan) Jackson of Lincoln Park, Michigan, 2 grandchildren, Travis (Stephanie) and Torri Ann, and by his siblings, Kathy (David) Williams of Norwalk, Ohio, Allen J. (Pat) Lewis of North Fairfield, Ohio, by his triplet sister, Betty J. (Richard) Bivens, of North Fairfield, Ohio, and by his triplet sister, Barbara J. (Rich) Wobser of Sandusky, Ohio. Burton was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne L. Lewis.

Arglee “Bill” Mills

 COLLINS—Korean War Veteran Arglee “Bill” Mills, 88, of Collins, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife of 62 years and daughters on June 12, 2017. He courageously fought a 17 year battle against Alzheimer’s Disease with his family faithfully by his side.

He was born on April 29, 1929 in Mills, Kentucky, to Isaac Jr. and Dora (Hubbard) Mills.
He worked at US Steel in Lorain for 35 years before retiring to his hobby farm in Collins. He loved all his animals, but especially his cattle. He always had a story to tell while enjoying his coffee with family and friends around the kitchen table. Never a dull or silent moment with him around!

He was a Godly, faithful husband to Betty and devoted father to his son–the late Charles Ray Mills, and 2 daughters– Rebecca (Eric )Adelman of Norwalk, and Julie Mills ( husband—David Woods) of St. Louis, MO. ; 3 grandchildren–Jessica (Aaron) Naylor of Norwalk, Kayla Mills of St. Louis, and Derek Adelman of Norwalk; 2 great granddaughters–Khloe and Brynleigh of Norwalk; 2 brothers—Hubert Mills and Ron (Karen) Lindner, and sister– Tressie Miller. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Step father Frank Lindner; brothers–Boss, Charles, Orvil, Jeff, and Noah.

We are honoring dad’s life and service to his country at a military graveside service on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11 am at Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.

Shirley A. Tyson

Norwalk, Ohio – Shirley A. Tyson, 79, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, June 8, 2017 in Gaymont Nursing Center. She was born July 26, 1937 in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Harold R. and Florence (Bonecutter) Fletcher, and lived in this area most of her life.

Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Norwalk High School, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Norwalk, Ohio. She was a former employee of Norwalk Truck Line, and retired with 30 years of service as a dispatcher for the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Patrol. Shirley was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader, and enjoyed bowling, camping, and vacationing in Florida.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Cleet I.Tyson of Norwalk, Ohio, by her children, Christina A. (Peter Jr.) Amato of Sandusky, Ohio, Kathleen A. (Eric) Aquino of Norwalk, Ohio, and Michael A. (April L.) Tyson of Norwalk, Ohio, by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren with one soon to be born. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Fletcher.

Norwalk, Ohio – Etta W. Cornwell, 93, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Monday evening, June 5, 2017 in the Bellevue Care Center, Bellevue, Ohio. She was born November 18, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Earl S. and Cecelia M. (Bopp) West, and came to this area in 1952 from Medina, Ohio.

Etta was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Monroeville, Ohio, Althea Chapter #438 Order of the Eastern Stars, Monroeville, Ohio, and Shrine Dendarah Court #10, of Toledo, Ohio. She retired from the Monroeville Co-op Grain Company in 1988 after 15 years of service, and was a former employee of Seaman McGlean Co. of Monroeville, Ohio. Etta enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, needlework, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey E. (Barb) Cornwell of Bellevue, Ohio, and Kenneth P. (Sue) Cornwell of Tiffin, Ohio, 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville, Ohio.

Norwalk, Ohio – Linda S. Brummitt, 50, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center. She was born November 11, 1966, in Sturgis, Kentucky, and has been a lifelong area resident.

Linda was a former employee of Faulhaber, Inc. of Monroeville, Ohio, and Walmart, Norwalk, Ohio. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Linda was a former member of the Moose Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Dustin (Ashley) Brummitt of Norwalk, Ohio, by her mother, Sue (Lyle) Smith of Norwalk, Ohio, by 3 grandchildren, by her brothers, Eugene (Rebecca) Wilson of Norwalk, Ohio, and Frank (Autumn) Wilson of Norwalk, Ohio, and by her sister, Jessie (Vince) Luzader of Huron, Ohio.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Myles Wilson, Sr., and by her brother, Myles Wilson, Jr.

Michael L. Spalsbury

Norwalk, Ohio – Michael L. Spalsbury, 60, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 in the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1957 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Gerald A. and Ina Mae (Stoneham) Spalsbury, and was a lifelong area resident.

Michael was an upholsterer at Norwalk Furniture for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, golf, gardening, and mushrooming.

Michael is survived by his son, Thane M. (Staci Murphy) Spalsbury of Norwalk,, Ohio, by one grandson soon to be born, by his brother, Douglas A. Spalsbury, and by his sister, Judith A. (Pat) Costello of Kernersville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his brother, James A. Spalsbury in 1977.

Bruce E. Barnard

 Norwalk, Ohio – Bruce E. Barnard, 69, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 in Heritage Village Nursing Center, Clyde, Ohio, after a 4 year battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). He was born November 8, 1947, in Bellevue, Ohio, to the late Robert R. and Betty (Snyder) Barnard.

Bruce graduated from Bellevue High School in 1966, and served in the U.S. Army from March 1967 to March 1970. He served in the U.S. State Department where he set up communications for the SALT talks with Russia in Helsinki, Finland. Bruce retired from the U.S. Postal Service the end of 2007 with 28 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Catharine (Sparks) Barnard, by his sons, Brian Barnard and Brent Barnard of Norwalk, Ohio, Brandon Barnard of the U.S. Navy stationed in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, and Troy Rodecker of Berlin Heights, Ohio.

Bruce is also survived by his grandsons, Greyson Barnard, Luke Rodecker, and Bryce Rodecker, and by his granddaughter, Ava Rodecker, by his sisters, Michele (Daniel) Briehl of Sheffield Village, Ohio, Lana (William) Labo of Lambertville, Michigan, and Denise (Christopher) Pensiero, of Bellevue, Ohio, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Brett Barnard (Stillborn), and by his brother, Terry Barnard.

There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place. Private Graveside Services will be held in Milan Cemetery.

Norwalk, Ohio – Sherry P. King, 70, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 in Twilight Gardens Home. She was born December 2, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio, to the late William and Idessa (Hennessey) Taylor, and lived in this area most of her life.

Sherry was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time on her computer, cooking and baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and was a Cleveland Indians Baseball fan.

Sherry is survived by her children, Veronica (Michael Bleam) West of Norwalk, Ohio, and Rob King of Norwalk, Ohio, and 3 grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, George (Dawn) Taylor of Detroit, Michigan, Lee Taylor of Norwalk, Ohio, Kyle (Frank) Case of Norwalk, Ohio, and Marie (Bob) Boden of Carey, Ohio.

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. King Jr. in 1991.
